1st week of school: completed!

Wow, in a blink of an eye, 6 months had past since I last took my O'levels. 6 months of holiday felt like 2 months. Can't believe I am already starting school at Singapore Polytechnic and today marks the end of the first week of school.

I am starting as a business student at Singapore Polytechnic in Diploma of Accountancy. This blog is dedicated to my 3 years in Poly. I hope that i would be able to at least update every single day, to keep track of how much I've grown over the years, as well as the beautiful memories I am going to make with my classmates.

Starting as a Year 1 student, everything was going fine for me. However, the school is too huge and I'm still having problems with finding a certain location myself. I've mastered going to my classrooms but not yet to the 6 food courts and the cafes in school. I am even confuse with which food courts sells what food.

For the past few days, lessons in school have been boring but easy. The introduction of new teachers and having to memorize their names is a little tough on my side. Some times, I do not even remember what classes I had before. My mind is still adapting to the new environment and the new subjects. Additionally, in Poly, acronyms is commonly used. Every single subject is being written down in acronyms, some times i do not even know what class am i attending till i reach the venue.

The subjects I have started taking right now are Fundamentals of Marketing, Statistics for Business, General Education, Microeconomics, Principle of Accounting, Education and Career Guidance and Communication Project Report. Though I have no idea how some of them are useful, well I have these classes and some of them are real boring.

Subjects like General Education is more of communicating skills but I don't really like one of my group mate. He gives off the really weird vibe? It's hard to explain because I've only seen him once for 2hrs and I'll be seeing him again the coming Monday, sigh. I hope we would be able to switch groups because business is all about making friends, expanding our social circle as they may be our future business partners. However, if we are still being stuck in the same group, I hope I can soon pinpoint what I dislike about him and why does his classmates isolate him as well.

I have certainly no idea what Communication Project Report is other than learning how to speak proper English, have a proper standing posture when giving a speech and eye contact. I do not even know when this class will finally end. Surely we don't have to learn about this for 3 years I hope. As for my other subjects, it is probably obvious what I am learning as the name says it all.

Oh, its really weird too. Its only the first week but I see so many Year 1 students already staying back in school to complete homework. Meanwhile for my class, we do not have homework yet. It is no wonder too, my classes keep getting cancelled because the lecturers are always busy with other things. Its good and bad. Good because either I can come in later than others, go home earlier or a longer break time. Bad is because there would always be a make-up lesson and it would be after everything. Classes can end up till 7pm too. Its hella tiring for us if we have classes in the morning starting at 8am. Next Monday, I actually have classes at 9am, but the teacher cancelled it so I only have to report to school at 1pm instead. But the lessons will be postponed to some day after school, hopefully when the day comes I would have energy for classes.

Had Statistics lecture from 2-3pm, I almost fell asleep hearing the lectures. Either the subject is boring or the lecturer just talks way too monotonous. Had chicken chop at my school's cafe: Moberly Cafe. The chicken chop was good! As for the food courts, I would prefer food court 5, where all the fastfoods are like KFC and Subway. There is even Starbucks at food court 5 too! I LOVE STARBUCKS! Food court 4 is actually KOUFU.

I guess that's all for the first week of school. Kinda boring if you would ask me, but friends made school all the more bearable. Glad to have made new friends in school.

A picture of us taken in Statistics Tutorial, we weren't paying attention, class was way too boring.
