Marcid: withered; incredibly exhausted

This post has been in my draft for so long. I wrote it in November but hadn't had the time to finish and edit it but finally it is the term break so here I am finishing what I've started. This is how it goes:

So done with this week, this semester, this term. So done.
Why, you'd ask.

Well, I have a few things to address.
1) Lack of sleep
2) Packed schedules
3) Mom hospitalized
4) Club commitments
5) Singapore Polytechnic Open House

Firstly, I've been living the past few days with only 3 to 4 hours of sleep a day. I live in Pasir Ris and my school is all the way on the other side of Singapore. Well, hello from the other side. Can you even imagine how exhausted I am just to wake up 3 hours earlier before my class starts just to get ready and travel to school.
Feeling extremely tired and sleepy, I still had to squeeze with a bunch of people early in the morning. If I was waiting for the train and if the train that came was packed like sardines, I would wait for the next train even if I am running late. However, apparently some people just loves to squeeze in with the crowd, they end up almost getting squashed by the MRT doors and had to be pressed flat against the door at all times because that is just how much space is left for them. They may not mind squeezing with other people, but have they paused for a moment to think if the other passengers on the MRT would mind if a stranger stands so close to them and having to squeeze in the train early in the morning. I believe the interval of every MRT is short enough during peak hours so people should just wait for the next train instead of just pushing everyone just so they themselves can selfishly get in the train. I have been told many times that I have the resting bitch face and I believe that if I am lacking sleep, my facial expression will become worse. The reason why I hate taking public transport is because of this reason: squeezy. In the MRT, people just loves to squeeze beside you and those standing in the center of the cabin have to try their best to balance in order not to fall onto someone.

Secondly, I have been going home around 10pm to 12am lately due to school work. On Mondays, I would end around 1030pm and probably only reached home at 12am. I still have assignments and projects to be done. I just submitted my Management & Organizational Behavior Module Report today. On every Tuesday and Friday, I have Archery Tag which ends at 8pm. Wednesday is suppose to be the only free day whereby I do not have to stay back for anything, but I feared Wednesday is because classes starts at 8am every Wednesday. I have Yoga classes which is one of my modules for this Semester on Thursday.

In Week 4 of Semester 2, I had a group and we are supposed to play 2 games together to determine our marks for the CA1. I personally felt that the game was an ice-breaker among my team mates because we have a new member from another class in my group. The first game was to have a player throwing the ball into the respective baskets without facing the basket. One member is supposed to do it one at a time and the other members have to direct the member sitting on the chair to throw at which angle and how much force is needed. As for the second game, we are suppose to choose the materials to create the best protection for the balloon. We have to drop the balloon down from a certain height onto a thumb tack or needle and make sure it does not burst. There is a marble in the balloon to add weight to the balloon.

Then in Week 5, we had to create a mindmap and present it to my class as well as do peer teaching. The photo attached below is how our mindmap looks like.

Then in Week 6, we had to hand up a report based on the findings of our mindmaps. This is one of the reason why I only had 3 hours of sleep almost every night. Being the group leader is a huge responsibility as I had to be the one double checking everyone's work to make sure it is perfect. Not only do I have this one project, I also have a debate topic to research on as the presentation is coming up soon. I also have another project which requires me to search for a trend in Singapore and relate it to Accountancy. All these modules have deadlines so close to each other, I am really about to collapse any time soon.

Thirdly, my mom recently undergo an operation to remove lumps from her neck. The doctor says that she has to be hospitalized for at least 5 days hence I have been travelling to the hospital almost every day just to visit and spend time with her. I even brought oreo cheesecake for her to eat because she complained that the hospital food was really bland.

My mom's operation on her neck is really successful and she is recuperating so quickly. Get well soon Ma. :-)

I'm actually in Singapore Poly's School of Business Ambassador Club and we're really busy these days because of the open house. And that explains why I'm extremely lacked of sleep. I couldn't even finish typing this blogpost in one week because I am just that exhausted.

Just an update of my current life in school.

SFL stands for 'Sports For Life'

As the name says, we have to do a sports module for one semester. My sports module is yoga and I enjoy going for the yoga class very much. It is very relaxing and it helps me to relax my body. Some yoga poses helps me to strengthen my core and make me stretch out my limbs. I really missed the feeling of stretching. Being in the dance club for many years, stretching is almost part of my everyday life. I am sighing in the picture because if there is no SFL, I would be able to leave school at 4pm and be able to avoid squeezing with the peak hour crowd.
I usually go home with my friend, Nina, because she stays in the same area as me. She also has SFL on the same day as me but she is in badminton. The badminton takes place somewhere in Clementi so whenever she is at the MRT platform, she'll let me know when do I get in the same train as her and in the same cabin. After doing this for a while, we realize that usually the 6.20pm train is usually quite empty.
But yesterday, Nina called me and told me that they just board the train and the train is empty. A short while later, a train came and the head of the train looks pretty empty so I thought it was that train. However, it was quite packed with no seats available in my cabin. I thought Nina was in that cabin so I entered, only to realize too late that she is not in the train, but in the next coming train. But luckily I was with my friend so it would not be a lonely ride home.

These were taken on Wednesday when I was waiting for my mom to pick me up from school. I think the pictures are really pretty so I am sharing them with you.

If you want to know how I edit my photos you can always ask me, tweet/dm me, check out my VSCO grid and journals and follow me on my Instagram! I won't bite! May be I will, only if you look yummy.

(this is me trying to be aesthetically photogenic)

Okay, so today is already Saturday because it has passed midnight, but to me, it is still Friday so lets just call it Friday, TGIF!!

I have Archery Tag training every Tuesday and Friday, 6-8pm. One thing about Archery Tag is that you get to shoot people as well, instead of just the old and boring target boards. This game makes archery all the more interesting.

However, due to my bone structure, I usually get bruises and scrapes on my left elbow and under-forearm. Today's training got me the worst ever bruise. The bruises are so bad my hand starts to swell. All these photos below are not edited and no filter.

You can see the swelling on my arm that is near the shadow. It is red and swelling.

Took this picture from my snapchat. I had to put ice because of the swelling.

This is how bad my arm looks if you see. The bruises are not any ordinary bruise. The bruises are not in blue and black color. It is red, then turns to blue and black after a few days. I am the only one in the team that gets these bad bruises. It is not because I am holding the bow wrongly but because of my arm structure. Coach told me he's going to get me an arm guard soon, thank goodness.

These bruises are so ugly, I contemplate if I should wear long sleeves to school so that no one will be able to see my bruises. I just wish my bruises will go away soon.

It is even painful to stretch or move my arm around, that is just how bad my arm is hurting. Those who are reading this, pray for me, pray for my arm.

And, thank you for taking you time in reading my posts. It wonders me how you are so free to bother about my life and maybe the rants I tend to post. Please continue to support me and read my posts! It makes me happy seeing the views go up everyday.

Goodnight!

Work, Drama & League

Yep the title says it all. For the first two days of the holiday I went to work at Kontiki, located at Passion Wave @ Marina Bay in Tanjong Rhu. I'll tell you more on why I only worked for 2 days in the later part of the blog. The walk to the restaurant takes about 20-30mins hence it is pretty inconvenient for people to get there. Even I have trouble finding the restaurant on the first day so I took a cab instead.

The restaurant looked really pretty. It is a marine-themed restaurant and the people there are nice except for the lady boss. After working 2 days there, I realized many customers were actually friends with the boss. I have a feeling because this place is too isolated, its hard to even go to the restaurant without a car hence there are so few customers. I worked on a Friday and a Saturday. They told me to expect many customers on Saturday but the restaurant isn't even full. It could probably be because the restaurant has only opened for a week due to some unfinished paperwork. The weekend on the first week had many people just because there was a carnival beside their restaurant. My friend's friend tried the food at Kontiki and they said it isn't anything special, and the price isn't cheap.

Working at Kontiki is pretty troublesome to me. Not only is it far from my house, the walk to the restaurant is unbearable under the Singapore heat. By the time I reached the restaurant I'm already drained and sleepy. In addition, the place is not busy and it is boring. I would be standing at the same spot all day till my legs ache. As a girl, I would always bring my bag around. I've never worked at an F&B restaurant before, but shouldn't every shop have a staff room to put our belongings? What is something is lost or stolen? It could be anyone who took it. However, at Kontiki, there is no staff room or locker to put my bag. So where do I put my bag? In the corner of the bar! That's not all. What's worse is that I cannot enter the bar at all. I do not know why maybe it is because I'm underage? But it is not like I even know how to make the drinks or steal alcohol wtf. I would never do such lowly stuff. If I wanted to drink I will buy. My bag is in the frickin bar and I cannot even enter to retrieve my things. It is so inconvenient for me.

The manager keeps repeating it in my face to not step a foot in the bar. I wish I knew the reason why because it feels like I've committed a crime of stealing alcohol or money from the cash register before lol. Even when I want to get water I have to bother people to help me for my own needs just because I cannot step in the bar. How nice I must have felt to bother people a lot. The other staffs can enter but just not me.

The working hours are not long and the pay is quite good for F&B but still it is pretty inconvenient. At least it is bearable walking with my friends. Actually, even after all those, I never thought of quitting. It was not until the 2nd night where my parents offered to drive me home that day because they were out and it was getting late. On the first night I almost missed the last train hence my parents offered to fetch me home. They too cannot find the place and I had to walk out to the road so they can find me. My mom get pretty mad and annoyed because they couldn't find the place. I got in the car and my mom asked me all bout how's work. She knew how I find this job, it was on a facebook page that my friend showed me. My parents weren't all too fond of me working at an f&b outlet but since my dad used to be a head chef, he told me it was ok to experience it but not work there forever. My mom preferred me to work at retail, like my previous job, ZARA, where I wouldn't be all sweaty and sticky outdoors with no AC.

The facebook page actually says transport and meals will be provided. Yes meals are provided, but transport....... well they only provide the transport from the restaurant to the MRT when we are on the way home. I told my mom how I had to walk for like 25 mins to reach there and she was not happy about it. The facebook page says transport provided so we all thought it meant the trip from the mrt station to the restaurant too but nope. Eventually, my mom wanted me to stop working there because she feels that if I want to get a job just to pass my time, I don't have to work there, I can always work somewhere else, preferably retail outlet. She texted my manager as told my manager to remove me effectively as of the next day and transfer me the money I worked for asap.

The story of my 2 day working experience ends here and now I am currently rotting my life away because I'm so bored. The first week was still ok for me because I get to catch up on all the shows I wanted to watch. Managed to watched the whole 5 seasons of Teen Wolf and I am so in love with Dylan Sprayberry. He is one of a masterpiece, so good-looking and well, white. Had a mini Teen Wolf war with my friends on twitter and it was hell of a laughter. After Teen Wolf, I caught up on all my variety shows like Running Man, The Return of Superman, Show Me The Money and Unpretty Rapstar 2. Clifford introduced me to Yong Pal and it is a great drama. Only at episode 8 because I thought the show stopped till there but apparently I see wrongly so I'm gonna continue watching it soon. Also started watching on The Flash and I found a new eyecandy.

Because I still have 4 more weeks of holidays left, and nothing else for me to do, I started learning how to play league with my clique. I mean I am learning, my mentor are Zachus and Nat HAHHAHA. I kinda still suck at it. Still died 6 times sometimes with 0 kills. That's super sad. I'm learning how to play the character Annie, and everything I drop her bear on the opponent, I'll die. I never fully utilized the bear before because it is like a curse. The enemy would come at me and when I utilized the bear on the enemy, before the enemy dies, I died. Kinda prefer the character Ahri :-(

Yeah well was supposed to go lan today to teach my friend how to play league, not me teaching but my friends but we all think it is kinda a waste of money to spend time in lan just to learn how to play when you can learn it in the comfort of your own home. I didn't go in the end or I wouldn't be here writing this post but I'm sure my friend still went. She couldn't play on her laptop. League wouldn't load on hers. Well I hope I can get better at killing the enemy. Only playing against bots now and I keep dying. Well I suck at this HAHAH, but league is fun. Thumbs up. :D

D-6

D-6!!! To what?

D-6 to freedom. 6 more days before my exam finally ends. Studying for accountancy now and this is much more productive than studying for statistics.

Stumbled upon this quote on twitter and I really liked it so I am sharing it to all my viewers.

This is actually what I really want to do right now. I know I look like the kind to not read books but I actually do HAHAHHAH. I just read the book once and never read them ever again, that is why I don't buy books. It will be a waste of money for me to buy books. I usually borrow the books from my cousins. Coincidentally we have the same taste in books!!

Cannot wait to party like this sloth. By party I mean just doing what I like to do and it is everything but studying. I am considering to continue my piano classes but I really don't like classical music. Too bad every practical exam involves classical pieces.

By the way, today is National Waffle Day!!! Eat waffles and enjoy your day!! Really recommend Sunday Folks' ice-cream & waffles. 320 Below is good too, they have nutella ice-cream, which is to die for.

At Sunday Folks, you should definitely try the earl grey or strawberry ice-cream flavor. I personally prefer the earl grey one more than the other flavors on the menu.

As for 320 Below, they have earl grey too, but the earl grey flavor is not strong hence I wouldn't recommend it. I think when you're there, just eat the nutella flavored ice-cream!

Anyway, I should really go back to study. Buh-bye!

Exam Stress

Just ended my Microecons paper today. Felt like I did not do well. All those late night studying for Microecons seems to be useless and I kinda not have the mood to study for the other exams now. I just felt like everything is wasted, all those sleepless nights, those midnight oil that I had burnt are all wasted. To me, economics is not a tough subject, but I guess its because I had too little sleep, which affects the performance of my exam. So a note to all readers, if you are having an exam the next day, please sleep more to avoid the same thing happening to me, happen to you.

I think I am going to sleep earlier in future. I slept at 2am last night and woke up at 830am this morning. That is like 6 hours of sleep? Actually 6 hours doesn't sound too bad....... Anyway, I think this is going to be a really short blogpost, probably about all my rants for Microecons.

I actually got like 2 questions wrong, 1 of it was because I legit do not know how to do, but the other was pure CARELESSNESS. I read the question as a demand question instead of a supply question!!!! Like shit this seriously! I could have gotten that 2 marks and it might help me in getting my A.

As for the short-answered questions, there were a few questions that I do not know how to do. I thought about it for quite a while and eventually I did answer some correctly but some was definitely wrong. I basically just bullshit throughout the whole paper. If I can get an A for this Microecons paper I would definitely be extremely elated, but if I can't, I know its my fault and there is nothing else I can do about it so I should suck it up and do well for Macroecons in then future.

Should probably start on my revision for stats now, see you again soon.

The Hell Week

໒( •́ ∧ •̀ )७
Been a really stressful and tiring week for me. Finally the week has ended.

Had 2 presentation in a row. One on Wednesday and the other on Thursday. After the presentations, I have to study for my upcoming Marketing test on the following Monday. How stress is this?!

Currently studying for my marketing test but I got bored so I decided to blog about my whole week. Hahahahaha

I knew I was screwed for my marketing test because I had a tutorial on Thursday and when the lecturer was going through all the answers, I do not know a single shit. I kept flipping the notes in class to a point where I give up and just zone out.

But even after realizing that I need to prepare so much, I still went to watch a movie after school on that Thursday.

I went to Tampines's Golden Village to catch Attack on Titans the movie. I would say the movie was pretty good because I love the anime so much, however, the story-line in the movie was different from the anime and the protagonists in the movie do not look like the ones in the anime.

Armin, the male protagonist's best friend, had blonde hair in the anime, but in the movie, he had black hair and I often confuse myself with the protagonist, Eren, and him.

The picture above is a picture of Armin, Eren and Mikasa in the anime.

This is how Eren looks like in the movie. He still looks similar to the character.

This is how Armin looks like in the movie. I mean cosplay is a japanese culture. If they don't have the funds to do bleaching just for the movie then why don't they use a wig for Armin's character? :(

And last but not least, this is Mikasa! Role played by Kiko! She is so pretty and she doesn't look Japanese at all.

I love the movie so much though, Sasha, one of the supporting characters in the movie was doing archery and it looks super cool.

WOOOOOOO OMG this looks damn cool please. She be slaying left and right, up and down.

I think I sound like a crazy anime maniac right now but I assure you that I'm not. Attack on Titans is just really so good. Can't wait for season 2 to be release in 2016!

And I guess it is time for me to go back to reality and study for my marketing test tomorrow! Ciao.

Golden Jubilee

It is the time of the year!! 9 August is Singapore's national day. This year is the 50th year of independence for Singapore.

This day, every year, is not only very special to our fellow Singaporeans, but is especially special to me. This is because, it is not only Singapore's birthday, it is my dad's as well.

I am lucky to have a dad be born on the same day, same month and the same year as Singapore. My dad is basically Singapore's twin brother. I know i might sound shameless saying this but I am so proud and I secretly feel that my dad is special.

Actually everyone feels this way about their parents. Who am I kidding.

It was kind of a disappointment for me though. I mean like hey, my dad is a Singaporean and he is born on the same day as Singapore's independence day, don't we at least get a ticket to see the national day parade live?

I did not even get to see it live for once. I really wanted to go watch it but no one had a ticket. My whole family signed up for the lucky draw but none of us got it.

Dad actually had a birthday breakfast with the community club at Pasir Ris. I was secretly hoping the president of the cc had kept some ndp tickets for us and gave each family four tickets, But all they did there was eat a buffet and cut a huge long ass SG50 cakes.

The cake looked pretty simple though, but it looks good. Too bad I chose sleep over those and only both my parents went instead. It was organized for only those whose birthdays fall on the National Day.

Mom bought a cake for dad and its a national day cake. This is how it looks like.

Yeap, and this video right here is a video of the whole Pang family singing the happy birthday song too my dad with my little cousin being too overly-excited. I apologize if the video quality is bad. It was a video I took on snapchat and saved it just to upload.

Add my on snapchat at sharleeennn if you have one!

Oh yeah and the picture of the cake is also taken from my snapchat. Been a little tight on my memory space in my phone. Sigh, this is a disaster to teenagers who loves to take too many pictures and only decides to upload 1.

Went to Nex today before we cut the cake for my dad. I went to bought a tote bag at only $12.90, will upload a photo of it soon. I also bought a pencil case and a fish eye lens from the same store. The pencil case costs $6.90 and the fish eye lens costs $14.90 which comes with a micro lens and a macro lens as well.

Went to catch 'Fantastic Four' at the Shaw's theater as well. I would rate the movie a 10 actually. If i had watched the trailer I would probably not watch the show. Throughout half the show I thought I entered the wrong theater. I thought fantastic four was all about super powers.

Half the movie shows them building a teleportation machine. I just realized is teleportation not a word? Cuz it is highlighted in red zigzag underlines. Yeah and only till near the end do I realize oh yes I am in the right theater.

I even checked the ticket a few times to make sure I did not enter the wrong hall. The movie was overall boring. To me. I wouldn't know about others.

Oh yes and Sogurt is having their SG50 special flavor which is Milo flavored!! Who doesn't love milo flavored stuff. Whoever loves milo can head down to Sogurt right now! Who knows when this flavor stops selling. I do not know if they also have this flavor in other outlets but the outlet I went to was at Nex!

I am pretty tired tonight. It is like 3am right now and I am typing this.

Once again, Happy belated birthday to Singapore and Daddy!
